Rowling shed some details of the matter above. ![]() While it is clearly implied that Harry is descended from Ignotus (Ignatius) Peverell, the third and youngest of the three brothers referred to in the Hallows story in the Tales of Beedle the Bard, the explanation of how Harry comes into possession of the Invisibility Cloak was not elaborated further when the book and movie were released.
